It provides a common forum for representatives of anthropology, sociology, history, social psychology, political science, human geography, biology, economics, communications science and other disciplines who share an interest in the study of the empirical structure of social relations and associations that may be expressed in network form.
It publishes both theoretical and substantive papers. Critical reviews of major theoretical or methodological approaches using the notion of networks in the analysis of social behaviour are also included, as are reviews of recent books dealing with social networks and social structure. The editorial criteria for acceptance will be based on the degree to which a paper makes a broad theoretical or methodological, and empirically relevant, contribution to the study of social networks.
Acceptable papers may range from abstract, formal mathematical derivations to concrete, descriptive case studies of particular social networks.

Login Dating and intimacy in the 21st century: International Journal of Emerging Technologies and Society, 6 1 , pp. View at publisher Abstract This article examines the growing phenomenon of online dating and intimacy in the 21st century. The exponential rise of communications technologies, which is both reflective and constitutive of an increasingly networked and globalized society, has the potential to significantly influence the nature of intimacy in everyday life.
Yet, to date, there has been a minimal response by sociologists to seek, describe and understand this influence. In this article, we present some of the key findings of our research on online dating in Australia, in order to foster a debate about the sociological impacts on intimacy in the postmodern world. Based on a web audit of more than 60 online dating sites and in-depth interviews with 23 users of online dating services, we argue that recent global trends are influencing the uptake of online technologies for the purposes of forming intimate relations.
Further, some of the mediating effects of these technologies — in particular, the hypercommunication — may have specific implications for the nature of intimacy in the global era. These databases contain citations from different subsets of available publications and different time periods and thus the citation count from each is usually different.

With the challenges of dating in today’s world, more and more people are turning to the internet. One of the numerous benefits of online dating is that many of the communication and even location barriers are playing less and less of a role in people’s relationships. We live in a world that is ever evolving and using dating websites to develop relationships is becoming increasingly common.
We encourage the idea that true love finds itself, and support anyone who prefers traditional methods of meeting people and dating. However, the world is a very large place and the chance of encountering your soul mate in your day to day life is small, especially if you are busy or overly shy. This is where dating websites can be a great tool; there are a large amount of online resources available at your fingertips to help make this search a lot easier.

This is also in keeping with Parental Investment Theory, which maintains that men are attracted to women who advertise signs of fertility — that is, youth. I hadn’t stopped to consider how badly I was representing myself during that critically important first-impression stage, where my digital self would be judged, without a filter or explanation, by potentially hundreds of men. Yes, my online profile was bad, but I needed context. And if I were being honest with myself, I’d admit that I hadn’t thought enough about my audience. For whom was I really searching?
